Tasha is a certified yoga teacher, a licensed K-12 English language educator, and is pursuing an MFA in Creative Nonfiction with a certificate in Narrative Medicine. She also has a certification in sober-curious coaching.
From a young age, Tasha was drawn to literature. She was a young reader and wrote extensive stories as a child. She has always connected strongly with language and literature studies, finding refuge and community through the collaborative structures in literary analysis, writers' workshops, and cultural studies courses. She earned a BA in English Literature and Spanish Studies before earning her Master of Education in Second Language Education. Tasha appreciates interpreting texts through a social justice lens. She believes that language is power and that our expressive language has the ability to transform our lives and our worlds.
Since completing her studies, she has been an English Language teacher in Colombia, Nigeria, and Israel and now lives in her hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota where she currently teaches multilingual learners of several immigrant and refugee communities at an urban, public school. She also teaches yoga virtually for The Mindful Life Practice.
Tasha is passionate about the collective healing we experience when engaging in storytelling. Writing, reading, practicing yoga, and engaging in community circles all have proven health benefits and help relieve stress by creating space in our hearts and in our lives for compassion and action. She is excited to share this passion with others!
In her free time, Tasha enjoys cooking globally-inspired food, practicing yoga, bouldering with friends, getting deep into TV dramas (hello, ShondaLand!), and snuggling her pup, Lulo.
